Happy Birthday Team Indonesia.
Bad girl.
Indonesian Cosmo has turned 13 and have celebrated with a cover featuring the very same popstrel that we chose for our own September cover.
Katy Perry is unstoppable.
That, however, is where the similarity in the covers pretty much ends.
The two interpretations of one iconic cover design (the famous COSMO Coke bottle) is an example of both Mrs Brand and our magazine brand’s versatility, I suppose.
SA COSMO, (as always,) maintains its allegiance to the notion of the unholy trinity of tits, tummy and thighs.
On the Indonesian cover, Perry looks much like a cheery high-school cheerleader, smiley and sweet and decorously all covered-up with something from the soft toys department of the local toy shop.
I’ve described the challenges of editing COSMO in Muslim countries, before.
I’d be lost - that’s for sure. I can’t really imagine a well-behaved COSMO. It would be a problem, probably.
COSMO’s Indonesian readers and covers are altogether better-behaved than our strumpets – covering up shoulders, arm-pits, cleavage and thighs.
Although those trippy, psychedelic ring things do hint at mischief behind the bike shed.
Let’s hope so. It is COSMO after all.
