Yes, this happened. Nora Crotty from Fashionista stumbled upon a very unusual show at last week's NY Fashion Week: Why don't we just go along for the ride?
It was the first runway showing of Toddler & Tiaras' star, Eden Wood (and her very, um, energetic Mama, Mickie's (Sic) new fashion range, Sparkle, Baby! * "The lights dimmed, a Radio Disney-ready song with lyrics about being a “daddy’s girl” blared, and the crowd started “wooo!”ing. Lil’ Miss Eden appeared first–clearly the star of the show–wearing bright red lipstick, white high-heeled cowboy boots and a bedazzled concoction that could best be described as Moulin Rogue Can-Can girl-meets 1800s barmaid-meets Tammy Faye."
Here's a bit of her review of the show: "There was a serious tutu trend happening (shocking, I know), and while outrageous fascinators have been banned from the Royal Ascot, they’re clearly Eden Wood-approved. For the breathtaking grande finale, Eden reappeared as if from heaven, wearing an on-trend pastel mullet princess gown made from seven million yards of tulle. She lifted the sides to reveal a shimmering silver lining and the crowd went CRAY."
After the show, Nora caught up with the designer for a chat about her inspiration, her passion and her insights:
” Me: “What was your favorite part of doing the fashion show? It was awesome, by the way.”
Eden: “It was awesome?”
Me: “What was your favorite part?”
Eden: “When we got on the runway.”
Me: “Did you have a favorite outfit?”
Me: “You liked them all?”
Me: “Did you help your mom make any of the designs?”
Me: “She drew them, but you liked them all?”
Me: “Happy birthday, by the way! Are you doing anything fun for it [this Saturday]? Are you having a party?”
Eden: “Thank you. I don’t know?”
Me: “You don’t know? Ok then!”
Eden: Shrugs shoulders”
It is not Eden’s first foray into the world of design, however. She is enterting her second year of her contract to “produce” Eden’s Cowboy Riders “for” US range Cicciabella.
I know you’re desperate to check that one out.
Frontier hooker meets Grayson Perry?
This, from The Daily Mail: "In addition to the fashion collections - Micki’s plans for her daughter include a recently released Eden showgirl action figure, an Eden Wood Princess Canopy Bed Collection, and of course, her memoir, Eden From Cradle to Crown, which Evan is launching today with a signing at the pop-up store"
* Because I am obsessed I know this is one of the strange things that Pagent Moms yell out to their child when they are performing. (Also “Pretty Feet! Pretty Feet!” “Woo hoo!” and “Cupcake hands!” )
