COMPLETELY UNECCESSARY APPLICATION OF PHOTOSHOP OF THE DAY: CANDICE SWANEPOEL BEFORE AND AFTER

by hurricanevanessa on January 31, 2012

New York Magazine dug up these images of onse Candice before and after, to compare and contrast. Not that much retouching, is there?

One could say that the sea and the sky got more "help" than she did. But then, she is a Super Grand Supreme Ultimate of Models.

A bit of Toddlers & Tiaras-style orange spray tan (care of the computer,) of course.

And of course, Super Duper Grand Supremem Super Models skin doesn't wrinkle.

Outrageous.

No fair. That’s mostly not Photoshop retouching, they’re lit completely differently and don’t seem to be from from the same shoots. The two white biking shots and bottom left have no or almost no fill lighting and are just near-noon daylight – hence the paler (overexposed sea and sky) and harsher effect. The top left has limited fill whereas all the RHS pics have soft fill lighting which goes a looooooong way towards making anyone look a whole lot better, even schmodels.

In the same vein – tip for people who always want to look their best – NEVER install small point-source ceiling downlighters in your home which are über-trendy but make for hideous black rings under eyes and highlight every wrinkle – go for big diffused hanging shades and floor lamps. You’re welcome (-:

…although I do agree that RHS no. 2nd down is ridiculously Photoshopped too.

Pretty damn perfect in the “before” shots, I say.
