Whenever I think of Cameron Diaz, the voice of Louise Court, the editor of UK COSMO echoes in my ears.

“My search is to find the new Cameron Diaz! Any ideas?”

Alexandra Shulman, the editor of UK VOGUE, obviously still likes the original just fine.

Here she is, on the cover of the summer issue of the magazine.

Even though, in what could be interpreted as a sly nod to her “advancing years” (Hollywood years of course, being shorter than both dog and model years) she does front their “Ageless style” issue.

Her ageles style?

Sunny, breezy, cheery.

Come what may.

She survived the break-up with Prince J of T without becoming tainted with “poor poor little single me,” Jen An syndrome.

It’s not that there isn’t a Kate Hudson, or a Renne Zellweggar, hot on her heels.

But they never sold magazines the way Cameron did, and does.

From COSMO to VOGUE via any men’s mag you care to mention, she does shift them.

Was Kate Hudson too similar to her Mama? Renee too prone to bouts of suspicious skinniness?

Perhaps it was the hair shot from Something about Mary that guaranteed Diaz her spot in the hearts and minds of her audience.

Women and men alike.

Acting with semen in your a hair is as good a way as any, to prove to an entire generation that you didn’t take yourself too seriously.

And not taking yourself too seriously, can be an efficient short cut to becoming beloved.

But, never mind the semen: I always liked her because she had rubbish skin and was honest about it.
