BARBIE PAYS TRIBUTE TO WORKS OF ART

Jocelyne Grivaud, a french artist, is trying to change the way we see Barbie by incorporating her into various famous works of art. This, you may recognise as a Rene Magritte. (if you did History of Art 101, as I did. Not because I wanted a career at Sotheby's you understand, but because I was a waitress at the Hardrock Cafe, knocked off at 3am, and needed somewhere to nap in the afternoons. HOA101 was at 3pm and in a lecture hall where they switched the lights off and showed slide shows. But I do digress)

Man Ray.

Otto Dix.

C;mon. You don't have to have slept through HOA101 to know what this is.

Ditto.

Venus de Milo.

Andy Marilyn Barbie. Dream? Or Nightmare?

Scar Jo, if you remember.

Olympia, you shameless hussy. etc.

And then there are some miscellaneous ones …

nicec clothes, nice bag, nice bath oil and soap ... not such a lovely chick.

Erwin Blumfeld.

Nofretete. (Nefertiti to us)

I think that that is a perfect HV post: A well-balanced combo of low culture and undergraduate nonsense.

Thanks to Theager.

If you into some Barbie art, this is a friend who does some weird stuff with Barbies! I like it, and although it is not everyone’s cup of tea, it does reflect a lot of what some people feel in everyday life!
