Even though it will be a long time before I want to hear that album again, I'm delighted to see Adele on the cover of Vogue. And she does look delicious. As anyone who reads this blog knows, I am a fan and would love nothing more than to have her on the cover of SA COSMO so I am spitting and hissing as I type, just a bit, out of jealousy and bitterness but .. is that the reason for all the hissing, spitting, gnashing of teeth? Nope.

Here's why. Have you noticed something absent on all her many magazine covers? Like her body for e.g?

The Body-less Adele is becoming the norm.

Show her … but not her body.

Because she’s not a cookie-cutter cover-girl size?

Because she won’t allow it?

Becase the readers won’t like seeing a perfectly normal, healthy 21 year old who isn’t a Size Zero?

Check these out. You’ll start to see a common thread …

Such a pretty face.

Such pretty hair.

On Out.

Pulling away, just a little. Although retouching, quite a lot.

More of the same.

And again.

She’s head and shoulders above the rest.

Just sad (for her and everyone else who somehow feels that if their body isn’t skinny, ) that that is what we see of her: Head and shoulders.

Via everywhere.

    Hi Vanessa,
You are absolutely right, I’m a 20 year old and recently gained extra weight resulting in buy clothes a size up than what I was, and its women like Adele who make me love my curves!!! Its sad to only see her head and shoulders on the covers!!! I would love Adele on the cover of Cosmo!!! And you can show these mags how SA does it….

Questions: What’s the process for getting Adele on the cover of SA Cosmo? Could you use a syndicated pic of her as the cover shot? And why hasn’t UK Cosmo gotten her on their cover yet? Agreed that her body is definitely worth putting on the covers of mags and its almost an insult to her beauty and confidence that they don’t.

    Hi Erin,
The problem is that there aren’t any suitable full body images of Adele to buy!
    Believe me we are trying.
And UK COSMO hasn’t shot her …yet.
    I keep on asking!

Never thought of that fact that SHE wouldn’t allow it – I usually jump to the evils of big publishing…

    Bring her to here.

I happened upon the magazine above The Gentlewoman and there is a full body shot of Adele walking her dog. Amazing photos in there. I ‘ve been thinking that with all the hoopla about the fuller figured ‘Joan’/Christina Hendricks in MAD MEN and Adele that maybe the mainstream was coming around .

I’d also noticed that she’s usually body-less on mag covers (not to mention her two CD covers). It didn’t occur to me, either, that it’s her deciding to use the perpetual headshot. I think it would be sadder if that’s the case.

Adele looked significantly thinner at the VMAs a few weeks back. I hope she’s not giving in to some f*cked up pressure to be thin(ner). Whenever a celeb (like Jennifer Hudson) loses weight it’s easy to assume that they just got tired of hearing that they’re too fat for this, that and xyz. The weight loss could be because they didn’t feel good or weren’t healthy enough. It shouldn’t matter, but it feels a bit like we lose a ‘weight warrior’ when a thick girl slims down, whatever the reason.
