Sandra Bullock at the 2010 People's Choice Awards 2010
Sandra Bullock!
Stylespot monitors the number of click-throughs to sites where people can buy the outfits worn on by the stars on the red carpet.
And the Vivienne Westwood outfit Bullock wore to The People’s Choice Awards last week generated more clicks than any other outfit this year.
New York Magazine’s The Cut Blog noted: “Bullock may not have the best red carpet fashion sense, but she’s relatable on top of being pretty, and this is what matters to the masses. It seems that if you can you hold up an InStyle cover, you can probably generate sales.”
The Wall Street Journal said that it isn’t pure chic that moves clothes. “For the most part, celebrities that drive sales aren’t necessarily the ones that get nominated” for awards, says Lily Hollander, editorial director of StyleSpot.com.
But it’s not only relatability – Meryl Streep generates many clicks to a demographic that actually spends, 40-plus women!
Kate Hudson, Drew Barrymore, and Penélope Cruz are also top sellers, according to StyleSpot.com.
No mention of those fashion-icons: Gaga and Rihanna.
