DID MARIE CLAIRE DEMI-FY JEANNIE D?

Ok, Alistair, I see your point.

Ok, Alistair, I see your point.

Thanks for pointing it out. Cringe.

Thanks, Alistair, for pointing it out. Cringe.

Eeeeew.

Cringe.

It is hard, when you spend your life, snarking and taking the piss out of every other magazine in the world, to f*** up yourself.

But, eagle-eyed Alistair Pott and his graphic designer wife, spotted what looks like an epic photoshop fail on the cover of Marie Claire’s Naked Issue, and drew it to the attention of Seth, over at TwoOceans Vibe.

Who sent it flying over to me, thereby destroying my peaceful afternoon.

Grrrr.

And poor Jeannie D.

Being accused of having a paunch is pretty grim, if you are a model/TV presenter type.

It does, on close inspection, look like, as Alistair points out, as if the MC team tried to get rid of her “paunch” but slipped up.

However.

Jeannie, really doesn’t have a paunch (sorry about that chickas) and while this is, indeed not marvellous work, (mea culpa and grovel, grovel etc) it’s sloppy deep-etching rather than sloppy retouching.

Jeannie was originally shot on grey, which, when used as a cover, is a deathly downer.

So the team dropped in a perky, up-beat pink.

Not very well.

Apologies all round.

Will try to do better next time.

I have to say that I agree – the word “paunch” is waaay too harsh. I regret that (and have removed it from my own blog).

Sorry. I make mistakes too!

Also (and I mention this in my post), I think that Jeannie looks flipping great both on the cover and in this picture.

I’m sure that she looked great before any photo-chopping started too.

Ridiculous. After the less than convincing argument on 702/ Cape Talk by the publisher on the need for naked celebs to highlights rape, now we see the celebs are touched up! Perhaps Marie Claire think that there are different degrees of rape??

What a ludicrous campaign and if anyone bought this… well you have less than a half a brain cell.
