Israelis are not known for being shy-retiring, quietly spoken little flowers.
Forgive the stereotyping, but here’s some evidence:
An Israeli Nationalist group has set upon Bar Refaeli (Israeli) and Leonardo di Caprio (Twenty times Sexiest Man Alive,) urging Bar to dump her handsome, famous, successful, heartthrob ….non-Jew.
The LA Times reports “It is not by chance that you were born Jewish,” wrote Baruch Marzel in a letter he sent Refaeli through her mother (and that promptly appeared in the press). “Your grandmother and her grandmother did not dream that one of their descendants would one day remove the family’s future generations from the Jewish people. Assimilation has forever been one of the enemies of the Jewish people.”
Marzel, a well-known stalwart among Israel’s ultra-nationalists, appealed to Refaeli on behalf of an organization named “Lehava.” In Hebrew, this means “flame:; it is also the Hebrew acronym for “Preventing Assimilation in the Holy Land.”
Oh dear.
Before I continue: could it be that this is nothing but a Jewish Joke?
After all, to fall back upon yet another stereotype, us Jews are known to have excellent senses of humour.
But no.
They are, apparently, deadly serious.
The LA Times continues: “The organization, according to its Facebook page (in Hebrew) provides assistance to Jewish girls in relationships with non-Jews, especially Arabs. There are other organizations in Israel that specialize in extricating Jewish women from marriages and other relationships with Arabs. Last month, Yad L’achim held an event for 100 women “rescued from Arab villages.”
Can anyone imagine any red-blooded single girl thanking some busy-body, interfering nationalist for “rescuing” her from the clutches of Leo Di Caprio?
No, me neither.
Never mind the flaw in their logic: in the Jewish religion, religion is passed down through the generations THROUGH THE MOTHER.
Not only one for the file of “no-one’s business but the people involved,” perhaps.
But also one destined for the equally stuffed file of “idiotic and ill-conceived lost causes”

Question: if Bar is Jewish and exposes her body as she does, does the ‘religion’ not have a problem with that? Is it allowed?
Innocent question… I’m not familiar with Jewish rights and wrongs.
I’d have thought they’d be THRILLED to get A) some new genes into the tribe (lets do our bit for tay-sachs) and B) to get some good looking, muscular genes into the tribe….
