Kelly and Kate.
Grammy-award winner and winner of the first season of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, has arrived in SA and given a press conference ahead of her three concert tour.
At the media briefing, The Times Live reports that she said: “that, unlike other first-time visitors, she had “no false expectations of South Africa” because long-time back-up singer and friend, Kate Rapier was born here.
It’s Rapier’s first trip back to SA, after seven years.
Clarkson has an ex-SA back-up singer? Fabulous! I didn’t know that.
(Actually I don’t know much about Kelly Clarkson, at all) but I LOVE it when South Africans do well. Here, there, anywhere.)
But, then, bless.
Luckily, Kate is widely acknowledged to be an excellent back-up singer, (whose own work with fellow back-up Jill Pickering is also pretty good), because, frankly, she’d be pretty rubbish as a geography teacher.
Clarkson went on to say:”The one place I can’t wait to see is where the two oceans meet. (Cape Point) That’s what I would really love to see.”*
Um.
Cape Aghulas, girls, Aghulas.
* Or, of course, ithe georgaphical slip-up could be totally rubbish subbing by The Times Live, too.
